Question:
Why do I need to quit smoking before getting an eyelid lift? How long do I need to quit for?
Answer:
Smoking can increase the risk for complications, it causes narrowing of the blood vessels, which leads to a decreased blood supply to the skin, thus slowing and interfering with the healing process. and it may even increase the risk of infection. Smoking can also increase your risk of lung problems. You should quit smoking at least 2 weeks before and during the healing process- but a minimum of 2 weeks after the surgery.
