Question:
What is otoplasty?
Answer:
Otoplasty is a facial plastic surgery procedure performed by several of the facial plastic surgeons and general plastic surgeons at the Foundation for Hair Restoration and Plastic Surgery. You can see many examples of before and after photographs of this at www.plasticsurgeryoftheface.com. Patients who seek otoplasty often times have ears that are extended too widely. In other words, instead of being parallel to the sides of the head, they tend to be closer to parallel with the front of the face and tend to stick out, creating a look that the patient does not desire. Through otoplasty we are able to place the ears in a more natural location, helping to accentuate the face so that attention is drawn away from the ears specifically. It is a fairly common procedure, although it is one of the more difficult to perform so it is incredibly important that a patient select the very best doctor for this procedure.
