Question:
What exactly does laser skin resurfacing treat? Is it an effective procedure if you are looking to improve aging facial skin?
Answer:
Laser resurfacing is an excellent procedure for treating aging facial skin. As a matter of fact, today it is the treatment of choice. Sagging can be helped by surgery, such as a facelift, brow lift or an eye lift, but changes in the surface texture of the skin are treated almost exclusively, and certainly best, by a form of laser. Whether you do CO2 laser, erbium laser or a fractionated laser depends on the particular problem that the surgeon is addressing and, in our office where all lasers are available, we go over the specifics of each one and what they would be treating you for.
