Question:
I am having otoplasty and I have a question about the billing. At my consultation I was given an overall fee. What exactly is included in that fee? What is not included in that fee?
Answer:
This is an excellent question. With all of our procedures here at the Foundation for Hair Restoration and Plastic Surgery, the fees that we quote include essentially everything. That means that the surgical fee is included in the quote. Anesthesia, which is typically done locally for otoplasty, in other words not done under IV sedation, simply done with a mild oral sedative like Ambien and Valium coupled with anesthesia to ensure the patient feels no pain, is covered as a part of this procedure as well as pre-operative and post-operative check-ups, stitch removal, etc. Essentially everything is included in this price. There are no additional taxes or other fees that a patient will be surprised by. The only possible expense that one can think of would be the possibility of having a prescription for light pain medication called into your local pharmacy, which usually is covered by insurance and may cost a small $10, $20 or $30 co-pay. Essentially all other fees are included with this procedure.
